Half Moon Bay, Calif. (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 27, 2007 -- The tradition of culinary enlightenment continues at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay this January with the resort's newest series of enhanced cooking classes and dining experiences, "Inside the Kitchen," powered by Viking and a fundraiser for Meals On Wheels of San Francisco, Inc. Overnight guests and members of the community are invited to interact and learn from guest instructors including Laurence Jossel of Nopa, Staffan Terje of Perbacco, Traci Des Jardins and Eugenio Jardim of Jardinière, and Hung Huynh, the winner from season three of Bravo's Top Chef. Classes are offered every other Sunday, January 6 through April 27, 4 to 6 p.m.
Inviting the chefs literally inside Navio's open kitchen after their class is the natural next step to immersing our guests in a top-flight culinary experience and education at the resort.
"Inside the Kitchen" classes feature an A-list of instructors in nine different sessions, with subjects ranging from the Indian Spice with Chef Kirti Pant of Junnoon to Cooking with Cocktails with Chef Jennifer Biesty and bar manager Scott Baird of Coco500. In addition to teaching a class based on the cuisine of their renowned restaurant, each guest chef will partner with Navio's chef de cuisine, Aaron Zimmer, and offer a one-night-only chefs' tasting menu that features signature dishes from both restaurants. For example, one night Masa's chef Gregory Short will step into Navio's kitchen after his class, another night Jonnatan Leiva of Jack Falstaff will make a guest appearance.
"The culinary education program at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay has enjoyed immense popularity and growth since launching in 2004, with the country's best chefs, sommeliers and mixologists teaching their craft and insider tips to thousands of local and overnight guests," said Xavier Salomon, Executive Chef. "Inviting the chefs literally inside Navio's open kitchen after their class is the natural next step to immersing our guests in a top-flight culinary experience and education at the resort."
The nine classes at the oceanfront resort feature small plates of each recipe, a beverage pairing, and a recipe booklet to take home. Customized Viking cooking stations, with cameras and flat-panel monitors positioned throughout the room, enhance the learning experience.
Enrollment for "Inside the Kitchen" classes is $90 per student, ages 21 and over, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Parking for non-hotel guests is $5. Class substitutions are based on availability, subject to change, and refunds or credit are not available for missed classes with less than 48 hours advance notice. Registration closes 48 hours prior to each class. To register or for additional information, including complete class descriptions, instructor biographies, photos, and recipes, please visit www.insidethekitchen.net or register by phone by calling 650-712-7040.
