Everyone in the food service or hospitality industry knows the importance of attention to detail. Or do they? It doesn't only apply to the dining room.
It's amazing how many websites show a boring Google or Yahoo map on their website. Why is this, when it's a perfect opportunity to be consistent with the brand?
I was just looking at the website of a fine dining restaurant 'somewhere in America'. The site didn't really do justice to the restaurant itself, but the photography was excellent and the site gave plenty of information.
The branding was good but it was obvious that the people who created the brand had not also created the website. I doubt that the web people had been provided with a brand manual. The site lacked brand consistency but was tolerable - until I came to the directions page.
There it was - the Google map! Where did that attention to detail go?
When your design company creates your custom map, make sure that it's created to be multi-purpose and that the resolution is high enough for printed material. You map can be used in advertising, promotional print pieces, press releases and event invitations. Make sure that it gives the right message about your restaurant.
