But clichés have a habit of being true. I think most of us would agree that our time is valuable. And for those of who are self-employed, our time really does represent our earning; we have to use clever time management and organize our days efficiently.
And this is why one of the things that I find particularly annoying is when people are late for meetings.
When you are late for a meeting, the message you are giving to the other person is my time is more valuable than yours. I'm a busy person and OK, if you have to hang around for a while because I'm late then that's fine with me.
Well, I guess that there are some people who can get away with that. The president probably can.
But most business people can't; especially restaurateurs or anyone in the service industries. We all know how important word-of-mouth is. Do you, as a restaurateur, want to give your guests the impression that your time is more valuable than their time?
If you are careless with other people's time, remember what subliminal message this is sending out about you.
