... but really.
This graphic is from the Renault Formula One site.
Of course, it's not as bad (in theory) as the famous Comcast typo which is still being shown to this day. The graphic above won't be on the site tomorrow.
But think. Why do huge companies like Renault have Formula One teams? There are several reasons of course, but the major one is so that they can showcase their company in the glamorous, international world of motorsport.
Motorsport is all about precision. If one grommet or widget or whatnot is a fraction of a millimeter out, the wheel can fall off the car, the steering can break and a hundred other misfortunes can send the driver hurtling towards the Armco at 200 mph.
And companies want to be associated with that precision, care and attention to detail. Ask Tag Hauer. And car manufacturers, such as Renault, want us to think that their road cars are built with the same precision, care and attention to detail.
How much do Renault pay every year to fund their Fomula One team? I don't know - if I rifled through my huge pile of F1 magazines I could find out - but I do know that it's millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars.
And one graphic designer ruins everything.
But do you think these team or the people behind them actually care. I have had the privilage of being around racing teams and to me they are too arrogant and only care about themselves. Design and messaging plays such a major part of our lives and big companies seem to miss the opportunity of portraying the right image.
