If you're a TSDG website client, you'll know that the final stage of your website development is your press release.
If the words 'press release' conjures up an image of sending typed sheets to newspaper editors, please think again. Today, press releases are uploaded to a media release online service. Your press release is then distributed to anyone who is registered with that service and has indicated an interest in your special field. Plus, it is published on the internet for anyone to download.
In this day and age, your press release is much more likely to be picked up by people writing website columns and blogs (which is great as they are likely to link to your site - perfect for search engines) - can you imagine how hard it is to think of new blogging subjects every day? Because of this, columnists and bloggers scour the media release services every day looking for something to write about which will interest their readers.
So, what will interest their readers? Well, if the client doesn't supply information for their press release, it is written here at TSDG. Because we know more about our company than we do about your company, this release is bound to be TSDG focused. (TSDG launch new website for celebrity chef). This is fine, but we'd rather the press release promoted your company. Therefore, we look to you to supply the material.
Back to the same question - what will interest columnists and bloggers; what will encourage them to take your release and publish it on their website? Italian restaurant launches new website? No, that's not really going to grab anyone's attention - new websites are being launched every minute of the day.
Are you offering any specials at the moment? Can you offer a special website-launch limited-time offer? Do you have any news from your company? Are you holding any special events? Have you appointed any new staff or designated a staff member employee of the year? Have you any endorsements from celebrities? Any testimonials from clients? Is your business celebrating an anniversary? Have you moved to a new location? Do you work with a specific charity? Are you introducing a new product? Have you won any awards? Are you offering free consultations or advice? There are hundreds of ideas - but we need the information from you.
We will write a paragraph about your website. For example, how it has a content management system that means that the website has fresh information every day, how viewers can download recipes, how you have an active mail list with special offers being sent out every week to members, how clients can make reservations online and so on and so on. But we rely on YOU to tell us about your business and exactly why people should write about it.
Don't worry, your grammar and spelling don't have to be perfect; we will re-write what you send. But please try to transmit your enthusiasm for your product or services to encourage columnist to write about it.
