It's going to do really well in search engines and it's going to be a fantastic marketing tool for the client. The client had supplied all the content and it had been added to the blueprint.
I had corrected that copy, coded it, analyzed the keyword density ... in other words, I was completely familiar with their copy and therefore, completely familiar with their business. So when it came to building the site, I had loads of valuable keywords to use when coding and building the site.
Today, I was reviewing our schedule and noticed hat there were several web projects that had stalled - waiting for the clients' copy.
"Hmm" I thought, very foolishly "Maybe I should build one of these sites and get a head start on the schedule." Very foolish, but that's what I decided, very much against my better judgment. I selected a web project and prepared to build...
I should have known better; it was impossible. With no copy to work from, I had no idea what were the clients' most important keywords so naturally, I abandoned the idea and vowed not to be so foolish again.
And yet, I still get asked by clients "Can't you just build the website and add the copy later?"
NO NO NO.
Of course it's possible in theory. But that's like building a house without knowing what it is the house owner wants.
So yes, I COULD build your website for the copy to be added later but don't tell me after several months that it's not doing well in search engines Unless a site is coded correctly when it's built, it will NOT do well in search engines. How on earth do people imagine it could? Think about it....
