I do wish that people would appreciate the difference between LOGGING ON to a website and VISITING a website.
If I go to the BBC website to read the news, I'm visiting the site. I'm not filling out a box with my username and password so I am not LOGGING ON.
If I come here, to add to the grumpy-old-woman rants, I add my username and password so that could be described as LOGGING ON.
I say 'could be described', because LOGGING ON is so very 1997, isn't it?
If I go to Facebook, LinkedIn or any site that needs to to ... well ... log on, that's very different to visiting a website anonymously. If you ask people to LOG ON to your site, you are implying that they need to give out their information - such as their email address, in order to explore your site.
Please, when you're writing copy and want to encourage people to visit your website, don't tell them to LOG ON.
VISIT our website.
