Last weekend was terrific for motorsport fans; I watched several great races on TV. When a driver gets into that car to tear around a circuit at a ridiculous speed, he or she has to have 100% trust in the mechanics and the rest of the team who have prepared the car. The driver also has to trust those other drivers who are a fraction of an inch away from them.
When you go to a doctor, you trust him or her. You trust your attorney, you trust your financial adviser. (Haven't I ranted about this before? It seems familiar).
Going on a trip? Do you trust the pilot who is flying the plane? Going out to dinner? Do you trust the kitchen staff who are cooking your meal? Just had new tires on your car? Do you trust the mechanic or do you think that he or she may not have tightened the wheelnuts adequately?
Every day, you are putting your trust in other people.
So what is the reasoning behind this rant? Actually, it's probably unreasonable of me. You see, today a client claimed that she did not believe something I told her. Unreasonably, no doubt, this made me angry. I do not lie. Not only that, but if I had been, the lie would have been quite easy to prove. Luckily, it was also easy to prove that I was not lying.
But, unreasonably, as a professional person of a 'certain age' I am not accustomed to having my word doubted. I know, SO unreasonable of me, but I don't care.
What happened to trust? Some people are just not very nice.
