We have many clients who come to us for a new website. "My old website just isn't working for me" they say.
Well, there are many, many factors that make up a good website. And a well-constructed, professionally created website can be a company's most effective marketing tool. We work very hard to make sure it is.
But something we can't do is dictate what your copy has to say, as you may have seen in previous rants. We study the keyword density, we correct typos and grammatical errors, we recommend and suggest, but ultimately, the copy is the concern of the client and his or her copywriter.
So what some people say is "Well, use the copy from my old website".
Think about this for a minute. You've come to us because your old website isn't working properly for you. PART of that reason is very likely to be your copy. Of course, your new website is going to be a vast improvement on your old site, so why spoil it with the same old copy that wasn't working for you in the first place?
