The news that Dunkin' Donuts are adding a frozen cappuccino to their drinks menu is hardly remarkable.
But what is noteworthy is that this is the first new drink they have added to their offering since 1997. Yes, 1997. Yes, twelve years ago. We all know that just about everything about Dunkin' Donuts is rooted is the past, but twelve years? The rise of Starbucks obviously passed them by.
I have always said that Dunkin' Donuts have absolutely splendid coffee. But not good enough for them to rest on their laurels for all those years. The article I read said:
In addition to a traditional espresso coffee flavor, the frozen drink also comes in caramel and mocha.
“The frozen coffee category is growing,” said McCall Gosselin, a Dunkin' spokeswoman. “With Frozen Cappuccino, Dunkin’ Donuts offers consumers a stronger, bolder espresso coffee taste in a frozen beverage.”
Gosselin would not say how long the new beverage had been in test prior to the launch.
Twelve years presumably?
