Hair...

I was just reading an article about the importance of the role of a restaurant's hostess.

Well, I say I was reading but I got no further than 'they should be greeted by a friendly and attentive hostess' and this made me think of the worst hostess I have ever come across.

Was she friendly? Yes. Attentive? Yes. In fact she was everything you'd want in a hostess except that she had masses of unrestrained, curly hair.

It was lovely hair actually, but it was all over the place and there was a lot of it. Now I'm a fine one to talk about hair because mine is all over the place too but I'm not working in a restaurant.

Every time that hostess moved in between the tables, I had visions of one of her long curly hairs detaching itself from her head and landing in someone's salmon.

It was disconcerting and of course, I don't know if any of her hairs actually had ended up in someone's dinner but the very thought of it was enough for me.

I've never been back to that restaurant. If it's suggested as a venue for dinner, all I can remember is that hair...
