And I know that it's unlikely that people will get the message ... but I'm going to rant anyway.
Now, this might seem odd, but I was reading something about NASCAR on the ESPN website. Strange I know because for me, motorsport means Formula One and Formula One and ... Formula One. So, it wasn't really about NASCAR, it was about the way that drivers connect with their fans via Twitter.
Happily reading away, I then found this quote:
But it's not for everybody. "Obviously, I don't get it," said points leader Mark Martin, who at 50 didn't grow up with computers.
Didn't grow up with computers, eh? So that's it. If you didn't grow up with something, you're not supposed to understand it, let alone use it.
Well, I'm older that Mark Martin so I can speak with authority when I say that the chances are that he also didn't grow up with fax machines, cellphones, digital cameras, GPS, Prozac, microwave popcorn, airbags, the frisbee, LCD, ATMs, Nintendo, CDs, flat screen TVs, VCRs, mountain bikes, Diet Coke, camcorders, pocket calculators, smoke detectors, Metallica, TV remotes, rap, skateboards, the Walkman, delivery pizza, recycled paper, whitening strips, DVDs, the HANS device, in-car cameras, the cordless drill, carbon fiber, ... to name but a few. Many of which he probably uses, or has used, on a regular basis.
Oh, and I don't know much about NASCAR and therefore I know very little about his sponsors but aren't Go Daddy his sponsors next year? (Domain names were invented in 1983) And a previous sponsor was Viagra? (Viagra first went on the market in 1998).
Why the motorbike photograph? No reason, other that it's an old thing on wheels. And no, I'm not talking about Mark Martin - he's just a baby compared to me, even if Twitter is beyond him!
