I'm not sure that I mean are Reuters mad or are small business are mad, but someone is.
Who am I to argue with Reuters? The grumpy old woman, that's who. And I'm not just the grumpy old woman, I'm also the person whose company helps many small businesses promote themselves via social media - lots of them.
Now this same survey said that 19% of small businesses have increased their advertising because of the current economic climate. What is does not say is a) what advertising this is b) where they are advertising c) how much it is costing them and d) most important, whether this advertising is working.
I would have thought those were pretty important points. Regarding point c, I am pretty sure that this doesn't mean free advertising. And yet free (or almost free) advertising is exactly what social media offers you. No, it doesn't make sense to me either.
Maybe they should spend a minute or two (literally) watching the information below ...
