And customer service will be the theme of the day. That, or lack thereof in the case of our hosting company and they seem to be the only thing that causes me to rant these days.
A couple of weeks ago, our credit card expired (as they do) and a new one was issued. This happens all the time to everyone. Remember that fact whilst I veer off to a quick mention of our local deli ... yes, it is related.
For the last few months, I have been buying lunch at this deli. It costs me about $6 per day - that's about $30 a week and very delicious it is too. Great food, fabulous service - just the job.
Today, as the festive season approaches, I was presented with a beautifully wrapped bottle of good champagne when I collected lunch - a customer appreciation gift.
Right. Remember that. A few months. $30 per week. Bottle of champagne. Customer appreciation.
And now, back to the hosting company. When we got the new credit card, we updated our card info in their antiquated system. But suddenly, I started receiving those "your domain name has expired" emails. All our domains are set to renew automatically.
The reason they gave was that our credit card wasn't working, despite the information being updated in their aforementioned prehistoric system. We have been customers with them since 1999.
Remember the deli? A few months. $30 per week. Bottle of champagne. Customer appreciation.
Hosting company? Now approaching twelve years of being a customer. A four figure sum monthly. No champagne. No, let valuable domains expire because of their own shoddy system. Hostcentric -read and learn.
